So, who are we anyway?

If for some reason you've been scrolling through our site thoroughly confused as to who we are, and what we're all about, then here's a quick rundown.

Who:

We are Young Estates. Hi, nice to meet you. We're an alternative rock band from Lake Charles, Louisiana. Or I suppose you could call us post-rock, or just rock if you're not into labels. Suffice it to say we play music that most people would call rock, and it tends to be artsy and introspective.

When:

Young Estates itself formed in 2019 soon after the recording of "Remember You" by Austin and Mason Smith. The two then recruited drummer and longtime friend Shawn Savant and began playing locally. Eventually the band would pick up guitarist Alex Dickerson and bassist Josh Carista as well.

Why:

That's a bit hard to answer, isn't it? The members of Young Estates have been playing music in some form locally for years and Young Estates is the final evolution of those efforts. We wanted a band that focused on producing music that we actually wanted to play, that people wanted to hear, and that we had input into. We were tired of hearing bands play the same type of music over and over, so we decided to try something different. Young Estates is that something.
